Therapist-Created Mental Health Resources for Everyday Life
|
Living More Fully is more than a psychotherapy practice. Alongside online therapy for individuals and couples throughout California, I’ve created a growing collection of mental health resources you can explore wherever you are, at any point in your own journey.
Here you’ll find therapist-created articles, videos, guided meditations, relationship resources, and practical tools exploring relationships, communication, anxiety, mindfulness, self-compassion, emotional well-being, and personal growth. They’re designed to help you better understand yourself, recognize patterns that may be getting in your way, and discover ways of responding to yourself and others with greater awareness and care. I’m James Guay, LMFT, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with three decades of experience. The resources here grow out of many of the same ideas I explore in my psychotherapy work, translated into accessible tools and reflections you can use in your own life. Continue Your Healing Journey Healing doesn’t only happen during therapy sessions. It can also happen in the small moments of insight, reflection, and practice that gradually change how you understand yourself and your relationships. Explore this growing collection at your own pace. Whether you’re looking for support with something specific or simply interested in understanding yourself more deeply, I hope you’ll find something here that helps you feel more connected to yourself and the life you want to create. |
Selected Topics: Explore What Feels Relevant to You
Why Couples Get StuckMany couples become stuck not because they don't love each other, but because unconscious relationship patterns and communication habits keep them repeating the same conflicts until those patterns are understood and changed.
Friendship Digital SeriesExplore the psychology of friendship, from making and deepening connections to navigating conflict, growing apart, and knowing when it may be time to let go.
LGBTQ+ AffirmativeExplore LGBTQ+ affirming resources about identity, relationships, self-acceptance, and living more authentically while deepening your connection with yourself and others.

AnxietyExplore compassionate, evidence-based resources for understanding anxiety, working with overthinking, and finding greater inner steadiness.

Couples Communication

Sometimes the most meaningful change begins when we slow down long enough to become curious about what’s happening inside us.
Couples & Relationship Resources
Relationships can become strained even when love is still present. These resources explore the patterns that can leave couples feeling disconnected, misunderstood, or caught in the same conflicts again and again. You'll find guidance on communication, emotional intimacy, attachment patterns, pursuing and withdrawing, rebuilding trust, and navigating uncertainty about the future of a relationship.
Whether you're working to strengthen your relationship, considering couples therapy, or simply trying to better understand what's happening between you, these resources offer a compassionate place to begin. Explore ways to recognize the needs, fears, and protective patterns beneath conflict and create greater understanding, connection, and emotional safety with one another.

The goal isn’t to create a relationship without conflict. It’s to create a relationship where both people feel safe enough to be honest, curious enough to understand each other, and connected enough to find their way back.
Explore Mental Health Resources Across California
Where we live can shape the pressures we carry, the relationships we build, and the ways we make sense of our lives. I’ve created mental health resources for communities throughout California that explore many of the concerns I encounter in my work, including anxiety, relationships, identity, perfectionism, grief, life transitions, and the search for greater meaning and connection.

Sometimes just the right words help us recognize who we are.

Retreats
Over the years, I’ve offered retreats for those drawn to a more immersive experience, creating opportunities to step away from everyday life, connect with others, and explore personal growth in a supportive group setting. While no retreats are currently scheduled, I may offer them again in the future.
