When Love Feels Like Work

Long-term relationships can sometimes begin to feel like work.

You may still love each other and care deeply about the relationship, but find yourselves spending more time managing schedules, responsibilities, and everyday life than actually feeling connected. Conversations become practical. Affection or intimacy may happen less often. Resentment can quietly build.

Feeling tired of your relationship or frustrated with your partner doesn't necessarily mean you've fallen out of love or that something is fundamentally wrong. Often, these feelings are telling us that important needs for connection, appreciation, reciprocity, affection, or understanding haven't been getting enough attention.

Couples therapy can offer a place to slow things down and become curious about what's happening underneath the frustration or distance. Sometimes rebuilding intimacy isn't about getting back to the relationship you once had. It's about understanding who you've both become and creating a relationship that works better for the people you are now.
