How to connect to your body

Body Awareness is Freeing

Returning to your body is the ultimate resource for finding freedom within.

When you’re activated, coming back to your body is a way of grounding yourself.

1.  Find Your Safe Space

Find a physical space that is comfortable, quiet and calming.  Reducing noise & stressful distractions helps you focus.

2.  Connect to Your Breath

Your breath is an anchor that reconnects you with your body.  Breathing more deeply reduces tension and promotes spaciousness.

3.  Notice Arising Sensations

Experiencing your five senses — sight, sounds, smell, taste & touch — reconnects you to the wisdom of your body.

4.  Locate the Origins of Your Sensations

Observing where your sensations are located in your body is another grounding technique.

5.  Put a Name to the Sensation

Naming your sensations make them more concrete and reinforces your connection to your body.

6.  Remind Your Body it is Safe

When it’s safe enough to do so, coming back to present moment time and space is a reminder that you’re not currently in danger.
