It's not worth losing ourselves! Our mental health matters WAY more than, “Winning the gold!” When we neglect our mental health in the pursuit of success we put ourselves at risk of losing ourselves in the process. So not worth it! Instead, when we attend to our mental health we make it much more likely that we accomplish our goals and retain our sense of self. If the cost of achieving our goals comes at the expense of our mental health and well-being then it's not worth it. Our self-worth isn't dependent on being in first place. While pursuing success often requires sacrifice there needs to be a balance so that we preserve the integrity of our mind and body. You matter more than your accomplishments. Showing up and doing our best — mistakes and all — is good enough and worthy of celebration. The REAL Gold in life is recognizing our inherent value and worth. When we recognize our own humanity and give space for our own imperfections we have greater compassion for others too. It's okay not be okay.

Our total health and well-being are significantly impacted by our mental health. Our thoughts, emotions, feelings, and moods all contribute to our mental wellness. It affects our decisions, deeds, and interpersonal interactions. We can be our best selves and handle stress better if we have good mental health. We can also achieve professionally, recover from traumatic experiences more quickly, and contribute to our communities.

The reminder that health is not just about physical fitness, but also encompasses mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects, is a powerful one.
