Boundaries are Essential for Self-Preservation

How do we set new boundaries as our world has turned upside down?  With updated restrictions on physical distancing & ways to mitigate the spread of this new coronavirus, being able to set boundaries is even more critical for our own health and well-being, let alone for others.

The New Normal:  Physical Distancing

What do we say when someone wants to get together during stay-at-home orders?  How do we respond when someone is coming closer than the 6+ feet recommendations?  What about if one of our housemates is an essential worker and is at higher risk of infection and spread?

What may have sounded rude before is now a legitimate and compassionate response.

Example Scripts for Stating New COVID-19 Boundaries

Here are some examples of ways to communicate new #COVID19 boundaries:

  1. I don’t want to talk about Coronavirus right now.
  2. I get that you’re trying to be helpful by sharing resources, but right now I need time to feel my emotions.
  3. I’m choosing to stay home right now and limiting my contact with people.
  4. I respect your opinion but I’m coming to my own conclusions
  5. I love how informed you are but I don’t want to receive links right now.
